Hyatt Regency Greenville

The lobby felt comfortable and welcoming, the outdoor guest areas were clean and safe, and the valet did a very good job. The room, though, was heavily worn and needs rehabilitation, especially the bathroom. Paint was peeling and stained on the walls and ceiling, the sink had a drainage problem, and the metal trash can was badly bent and beaten up. The hallway carpets were dirty and worn and badly need replacing. At check-in, the desk employee was cold and abrupt.

Right in the center of downtown Greenville, this is probably the best-located hotel in town. It’s a large property with a great lobby and conference rooms, and the bar is nice too. The rooms are a little old, but I had a great experience overall.

The location is really convenient, right on Main Street downtown and just a short walk from lots of great restaurants. Walk a little farther and you can get to Liberty Bridge, which is a must see. The atrium and lobby are fantastic, and the rooms are spacious and very clean.

The hotel itself is basic but fine. My problem was room service, which left me hungry and frustrated. The room QR code barely worked, so I called the restaurant at least six times over an hour to place the order and check on it. Nobody answered, even though it was an hour before closing. When I finally got the QR code to work, most of the food choices were already unavailable with 40 minutes left before the restaurant closed. I placed an order from the kids menu, but it never arrived. The front desk eventually said there was no room number on it, even though the form required one. They also required a phone number, so I don’t understand why they didn’t call to ask about the room number or tell me the order had been cancelled. Instead I waited 30 minutes and called the front desk several times just to get an answer. The front desk person was kind and said they’d refund me, but by then I had no dinner. The restaurant and room service close very early too, which made it worse. This should be a simple, reliable service at a conference hotel. Having to track it down and sit in limbo for an hour was extremely disappointing.
