I've stayed here more than once and would come back because the downtown location is so cool. The lobby and the hotel's whole vibe are beautiful, and the restaurant downstairs is great. The rooms feel pretty average, though, with ordinary decor and beds that aren't very comfortable. The bathroom is the bright spot, especially the above-average shower. A solid place with big old-school vibes.

Room 402's bed made for an awful night's sleep. The mattress pad fit only part of the mattress and was lumpy, so my neck and shoulders had no support while the middle of my body rested on the pad. My alignment felt badly off, and I eventually had to move around to avoid the uneven spot. The bedding kept shifting too: the bottom sheet wouldn't stay tucked, and the layers were a sheet, comforter, and another sheet on top. I was dangerously tired driving home and caught myself dozing twice, which has never happened after a stay here before. I've stayed at The Alluvian before, and Room 408, the king suite, was lovely, quiet, and comfortable. This time I was in the queen room, Room 402. The room itself was fine, and everything else about the stay was okay. I told the front desk so they could check or replace the mattress or pad. I still think this is a beautiful hotel, but guests should avoid Room 402 until the bed issue is fixed.

I had to get dressed and go downstairs after calling down three times with no answer. They did move me to another room, but that's unacceptable. When I got into bed, my foot touched something, so I pulled the sheets back and found used underwear. Clearly, the sheets hadn't been changed between guests. I'd give it zero if that were an option.

A great weekend getaway. The rooms were quiet, everything was clean and easy to get to, and we really liked the breakfast. We'd definitely come back.

It has a historic feel, and the rooms are spacious. The service was good, and it almost felt like being at home. Very good hotel.
