Inn at Lincoln Park

For $200+ a night, I expected more. The hotel was clean, but we were first given a room that was occupied, so we walked in on someone who was sleeping. Luckily, another room was available, though it was shockingly small. The headboards weren’t attached to anything, the bathroom door wouldn’t close, and the tub didn’t drain. The only usable outlets were on a cheap extension cord running to the end table.

It felt like stepping back in time, and most of the old-fashioned look was charming. I felt safe, slept well, and would stay again. I only needed somewhere to sleep while visiting friends, didn’t want to spend much, and didn’t spend much time at the hotel. Check-in was easy and friendly, the parking was close, and the hotel was cute. The old mattress and nearly nonexistent hot water were the downsides. Breakfast was mini muffins and drinks, but I’m happy enough with complimentary coffee.

I picked this hotel because of the reviews, and I’m glad I did. From outside it looked grungy, but inside it was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The woman at the front desk was especially nice, and the staff were incredibly friendly. It’s an old place, the shower won’t wow you, and traffic outside can be a little noisy. Still, the price and location make it a hidden gem, and I’ll stay here each time I visit.

We used the good location as a base for exploring the city during our one-night stay. The building and room were old, but clean, and we had a comfortable bed and a good shower and bathroom. Staff were friendly too. I’d recommend it to budget travelers looking for a clean bed around Lincoln Park or Lakeview.
