My Place Hotel - Portland East, OR

This new hotel has clean, updated rooms with full kitchens. Coffee is free around the clock, but there's no included breakfast. You can order breakfast room service for an extra charge, though it's just simple commissary items. It's close to the freeway and a few eateries, with surprisingly little freeway noise.

I travel from the coast to work in Portland a few times a month, and with my small dog this is my usual hotel. The grassy pet area is fenced off from traffic and has waste bags. MyPlace rewards is free to join and lets you check in early or late at 1pm, which is a big deal. The $15 nightly pet fee is great compared with nearby places that either don't allow pets or charge $45 or more. It's right by I-84 with several food options close by. The room has a full-size fridge, microwave, electric range, and a great shower. If you come to Portland for work with a pet, this is the spot.

I've stayed at My Place often for work, especially at this location, but I won't be back. Most of the staff are usually friendly, except for an employee named Sierra or Sienna. When we raised a complaint, the manager backed the employee's rudeness and demanded that my husband treat her respectfully, even though she was rude to guests. We live in WA and own a company there, with 50 employees who stay at different My Place hotels for out-of-state jobs. We'll tell them they can no longer use My Place, since we won't reimburse stays at that hotel. That's 50 employees who stay at a My Place hotel 3-4 times a week, plus the loss of my business, all because the worker was rude and the manager chose to back her instead of addressing her attitude.

The hotel at 2384 NE 178th Ave, Portland, OR 97230 is in a decent area, but at the front desk the girl didn't seem to like her job. I greeted her and got a sour look and a bit of an attitude. There's a stove, but it feels like decoration since they don't provide the utensils needed to cook. It's supposed to make life a little easier, but they only offer part of what you need.
