Econo Lodge Gretna - New Orleans

We booked in August for Mardi Gras because the price seemed reasonable and the location looked close enough to the festivities. The photos made the place look better than it was. When we arrived on 2/14/26, bugs or mites were all over the room, including the sheets and pillows. The front desk offered another room, but that one had more bugs on the beds and pillows, plus cigarette burns all over the blankets. The front doors also leave a gap of a few centimeters when shut, so anyone can see into the room. It felt unsafe and was definitely gross. We packed up and asked for a refund, which we're still waiting for.

The manager suggested taking the bus to Fat Tuesday instead of driving and dealing with parking. He was helpful, and I enjoyed chatting with him over coffee. It's a nice place just off the highway and close to the bus station.

The worker was great, but the room was awful. It smelled like it had been bombed, and roaches were still running around. We couldn't stay, so we had to find another room, and we weren't able to get our money back. If you're broke, I guess it's okay, but it's not worth staying in a room like this if you can afford something else. Again, the worker was great, but the room was shit.

At 3:45am I'm awake with every light on. The room is dirty, foul-smelling, full of fruit flies, and has roaches. I'm a Diamond member with over 100 stays a year, and I'm not happy at all. This place is disgusting. 0/10. We overlooked waiting more than 10 minutes for someone to answer the door or phone when we arrived to check in before 10pm, even though we had a reservation. We also let the condition of the first room go because they moved us and we were only staying one night.
