Super 8 Gretna

We booked a king suite but got a room with two queens. The first room smelled overwhelmingly of smoke. We smoke too, bad habit, but this was the worst smelling room I’ve ever been in, so we asked to move. They did move us, but the next room was right beside it and still smelled of smoke, though not as strongly. Its door wasn’t fully closed when we walked in. The advertised pool and spa weren’t working, even though we’d called the property to check before booking. We’d driven over eight hours to celebrate and wanted to relax in a hot tub, so this was hugely disappointing. We checked out and drove more than half an hour around midnight to another motel. Pay a bit more for a better stay.

The sheets were clean and the pillows were okay, but I had to be careful what I touched. There was mold in the toilet and around the shower, plus hair in the sink. Room service seemed to be doing what they could, while management wasn’t putting enough effort into a deeper clean. The room had two queen beds but only one coffee cup and two coffee packets.

The rooms were dirty, and the bathtub drain was rusty and barely drained. After every shower, hairballs came up through it. During a heatwave, I wasn’t sure the AC would hold up. The hot tub didn’t work, the pool looked sketchy and small, and we tried eight sets of keys without knowing whether we’d be able to get back into our room. It wasn’t because we put the keys by a phone or magnet. I’d pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

The location could have been excellent, but the place needs a complete remodel. Our room felt rundown and dirty, with grime from the walls down to the floor. There was a used, dirty towel hanging from the light above the sink, and the door lock was loose. We heard loud noise from beneath us all night. No coffee, mini fridge, USB outlets, or pool, either. We were charged 200 to stay there.
