Motel 6 Midland, TX

The rooms were clean and tidy, but I gave the motel one star because my engagement ring and anniversary band were taken from our room. Before going shopping, I told housekeeping I only needed towels and nobody should go into the room. The housekeeper handed me towels and said to close up any trash and leave the bag outside the room. I did that and left. On my way out, I passed another housekeeper and smiled. When we came back, there was a second set of towels in the bathroom. That's how I knew someone had been in the room. We checked out the next morning. After we left the motel, I realized I wasn't wearing my rings. I didn't want to accuse anyone, so I retraced when I last saw them and searched all my belongings and the places I normally keep them. The motel manager reviewed the cameras to see who went into our room, but the housekeeper denies taking the rings. I had to file a police report and left Midland without them. I don't want anyone to get in trouble, I just want my rings back. Replacing them isn't the same, even if I file a claim with our insurance. They won't be my original rings.

The room was clean, and I had no other problems during my stay. But the $100 damage deposit took about a month to come back, after they had responded to my review three weeks in and still hadn't returned it. For a single night, that delay made the stay feel like it cost twice what it should have. It really soured me on the whole hotel chain. Eventually, though, they did refund it.

Nothing fancy here, but the room was clean and we slept well. There were people smoking outside the entrance when we arrived, though we couldn't smell it in the room or hallways. Pets are allowed, so barking is possible, but we didn't hear any dogs overnight. We appreciated how clean the room and bathroom were.

Stephanie was the main reason I gave this place five stars. She was so kind and helpful, stayed professional, and kept smiling even when she seemed to be having a rough day. Her customer service made the stay for me. The room was comfortable and clean, and the location worked well for my job, with restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment nearby.
