Comfort Inn & Suites

Breakfast was good, with cold milk and other dairy items, maybe cottage cheese, and enough to make your own Sausage Cheese Muffin. The stay was mostly smooth, and I'd recommend it. A couple of things brought my rating down from what might have been 4 1/2 stars: the key card failed after check-in and dinner, then again after breakfast when we needed to get into our room to use the bathroom. The pillows were all very puffy, even though there were about six. I brought my own and offered it to my wife, but she used the hotel pillows and woke up with a sore neck. I'd bring your own, or the hotel could offer a mix of fluffy and less fluffy ones.

The suite we were moved to was filthy too. Its bed skirt looked unwashed, there was hair and mildew in the shower, and drywall dust covered the furniture, as if a hole in the ceiling had just been patched. The first room wasn't clean either: stained sheets and a bed skirt that looked marked with bodily fluids. The front desk woman seemed surprised and gave us the suite. This place is nasty. For your health, I'd stay away, and someone should call the health inspector.

The place was clean and spacious, and we'd stay again. We found it right by I-80 when we needed somewhere for the night after a long drive. Miss Retu was patient and helpful with our family while we waited for laundry because the washer hadn't drained enough for the clothes to go in the dryer. 😅 She’s someone you'd want working for your company!

The pool and hot tub are really clean and relaxing, and breakfast is delicious, with a good mix of hot items and cold choices like yogurt, cottage cheese, boiled eggs, and applesauce. I stay at Comfort Inn & Suites Grinnell every August, and the staff are some of the best I've experienced. They're welcoming, kind, and go out of their way to make the stay pleasant.
