Eileen of Mystic

Breakfast was generous and beautifully laid out, and Erin had clearly put real skill into preparing it. We woke up to a magical snowy day, which made it even nicer. Josh greeted us with a warm fire when we arrived, and both he and Erin made us feel welcome. The house is full of art, and its shared spaces are thoughtfully decorated and lovely to spend time in. We can't wait to stay again.

Breakfast was a highlight. Erin put together a buffet with carefully chosen, homemade dishes, including a delicious Scotch egg special. It was such a friendly, unhurried meal that we kept going back for more. We also loved hearing about Erin and Josh's lives. They told us how they ended up in New York City before adventuring to Mystic. Erin is a graphic artist and had clearly thought through every detail in the house. Josh has had several successful careers, from barber to master craftsman restoring old churches. He's probably the most talented person I've met. I don't know how they found time to sit and talk with us, given how much they have going on, but I'm grateful they did. We spent one night at Eileen's in Mystic, CT, and the room was flawless, with all the amenities you'd expect at a luxury bed and breakfast. Josh had completely redone the bathrooms, with modern fixtures, beautiful tile, a large shower, good pressure, and plenty of hot water. In my experience, that's unusual in an old house converted to a B&B.

Josh and Erin's care and artistry show up in every corner of the house. We had a perfect stay, and I already want to return and try every room. You really have to experience the place for yourself to understand it.

The best part was getting to know Josh and Erin, and we'll be back soon. The art and design throughout Eileen made the place feel special and cozy. Our room was just right, and breakfast was unbelievably good. Staying here was a highlight of our New England road trip.
