Comfort Suites Grove City - Columbus South

We were very pleased with our short stay during a winter snowstorm. I needed to be in the area to pick up a car. The lot had plenty of parking, including a semi lot in the rear, and the room was very clean, trust me, I checked. The bed was huge and the shower had good pressure. Check-in was quick, and the front desk person was friendly and accommodating. He explained breakfast and the 11 am checkout. Leaving was easy, I just put the key cards in the basket at the desk. Plenty of restaurants and gas stations are close by.

The beds were horribly uncomfortable, and I couldn’t reach the manager. I tried four times about the lock problem, but every time I was told she was in a meeting, whatever time of day it was, and that she’d call back. She never did. Even the 1800 number couldn’t get her on the phone. I stayed four nights, and the lock failed every night. After a 14-hour workday, I once waited half an hour at 11 pm for staff to let me in. Every night I had to be let into my room manually.

The room was really clean and seemed recently updated. The shower had decent pressure, which is rare these days, so I’d absolutely recommend the place. The mattress wasn’t very comfortable, though I’d fallen a couple of days earlier and might just have been sore from that. Breakfast was mediocre. We were told it was the “off” season, and with few people there on a weekday, it made sense they wouldn’t cook a huge spread. We had a very pleasant stay.

This place was so nice when it was new, but it keeps going the wrong way. I stay here often for business, and the coffee machine has had a broken sign on it for at least two months. Breakfast is disappointing, either it isn’t ready on time or half the food is missing. The pool door has a Closed sign. The front desk person said it was down because of heater service issues. The hotel advertises all these amenities online, but this and plenty of other things are broken. The downstairs ice machine is broken too, with a sign directing guests to other floors. Housekeeping has slipped as well. The rooms are dusty, and the corners and bathroom walls are stained. For $100 a night or more, this isn’t acceptable.
