Motel 6 Groves, TX

My room’s door reader ran out of batteries, and the front desk agent fixed it quickly. He has wonderful hospitality, and check-in is always easy and smooth. Every stay here has been pleasant. It’s a great hotel in Groves, the rooms are always clean and sanitary, and it feels quite safe.

I’ve been here for over a year for my work at the plants, and it’s been a good experience. Small things come up, like anywhere, but they take care of them quickly. Everything is nearby. It’s a solid place to stay.

The listing on the Motel 6 website calls this a King Deluxe with a kitchenette and says there’s a “coffee machine in room.” That’s misleading. When I asked at the front desk, they said it meant the machine was in the office. I emailed the complaint department and was told Motel 6 doesn’t offer kitchenettes or in-room coffee makers, only Studio 6 does. Yet I’m staying in a room with a kitchenette at this Motel 6. The overgrown grass and holes around the property are a safety problem. The grass is 8-10 inches tall, and there are 1-2 ft deep holes at the edges of some sidewalks and walkways. You can’t see them until you’re right on top of them, especially at night when walking the dogs. When I raised it by email, they replied, “The property has sidewalks.” Seriously? That’s their answer to a serious safety concern? This place is a joke. Motel 6, “We’ll leave the light on for you.” I guess it’s only on because the switch is broken.

I’ve been here two weeks, and the room hasn’t been serviced for a week. Today the cleaner told us to get out so she could change the sheets. We sat on our truck and saw her clean another room, then leave for lunch. We work nights, and they’d already interrupted us twice today without providing service, so we asked the owner’s son to have her come back. He got defensive and said he’d wake us up again anyway. The service has been horrible, and when we tried to cancel our extended stay, they said no. The owner was upset when we asked about broken shelves and a microwave. He knocked, we opened the door a crack, and he let himself in while I was in bed. We also had to buy cleaning supplies to clean dried blood splatter in the rr.
