Sleep Inn & Suites Grovetown - Augusta West

The staff were nice, and the room was okay. I just wish breakfast had more to choose from, like grits and fresh eggs.

Compared with the hotel I used the night before, this place was much cleaner and the room was more comfortable. I was here for the Peach Games in Augusta, and the rate was very reasonable, especially with other hotels nearby charging so much more. I'd come back next time I'm in town.

I picked this for a one-night break for myself, hoping for a quiet night. The location was nice, with plenty of food and things to do close by, and for the price the stay was decent. Still, I won't choose it next time. At check-in, the front desk agent said it was 3 pm, but I showed him my email saying 2 pm. He checked me in quickly, though nobody told me when breakfast was, the pool hours, or checkout time. The room looked all right at first, but smelled awful, like smoke had been covered up. The sheets seemed clean except for a few stray hairs. The tub was gross and had a used bar of soap in it, the walls had stuff all over them, and the remote was dirty and covered in something. The bathroom vent was badly rusted, and the A/C really needed cleaning. This place definitely hasn't been renovated recently. I lay down for a nap and woke with a terrible headache. Later I found the pillow I'd used was covered in mold. I don't know how housekeeping missed it, it was absolutely covered. I was at the end of the second floor, where the light outside my door was hanging by its wires. They did fix that while I was there. The stairwell door across from me scraped loudly on the floor whenever it opened, which happened more often than you'd think. A dog in the room next door barked through the night, and hallway noise carried right into my room.

The pool itself was clean, but the attached spa didn't work. When we asked, we were told it wasn't required to work. The vending machine was empty, which was inconvenient. The elevator looked so filthy I didn't want to touch anything, and our room door was just as bad, crusty and dirty. The room was spacious, and the bed was clean and comfortable. But there was still trash in the bathroom and no towels stocked. The fitness room was just a bike and treadmill, with highchairs stacked beside a few barbells.
