Comfort Inn & Suites Grundy

The shower pressure is great, but the water backed up to ankle depth because the drain was poor. Curtains cover part of the AC, so much of the cool air gets trapped. I saw a couple of stink bugs, though the room was otherwise generally clean. Since it’s the only place around, they charge an average of $160 a night for a room I’d value at $79-$89.

I booked this for my team, and the staff were very kind and accommodating. They did acknowledge the bed bug problem, though, and one employee had a bad reaction to bites. They need to take active steps to treat and fix this. Nobody wants to bring these pests home and contaminate their living space, or have loved ones return with them.

Emily gave us a warm welcome, and the rooms are great and very quiet. There’s a Walmart nearby that stays open late each day. Grundy is lucky to have this place.

The people who work here are great, and the building problems aren’t their fault. Still, the room feels dated and a bit grimy, even for a cheap hotel. The internet is atrocious, and the TV is locked so you can’t use a streaming device. At $130 a night, I’d seriously consider buying a tent and camping. The main thing I can say for it is that it’s better than sleeping outside.
