Holiday Inn Guin

The location just off Interstate 22 made this a perfect midway stop. Charging was easy, with Tesla Supercharger-style stations and a separate charger for other EVs. The hotel is big but very well cared for, and our spacious room had a comfortable bed that made for a good night's sleep. It was quiet and clean, with friendly, efficient service. The food on site was decent, and the price was excellent. I’d happily stay here again.

We only came in to use the Tesla supercharging station, but the front desk staff were exceptional. Our baby needed a full outfit change, and we had to clean out the car seat. They dried the liner and gave us trash bags, and the facilities were very clean. We asked about staying overnight, but they were already sold out. We’ll definitely consider staying here next time.

I’ve stayed here three times because it’s halfway between two destinations. I liked that the hotel allows pets, has a restaurant, and serves a pretty good breakfast. It’s well lit, and as a solo traveler I generally felt safe. This last visit, though, I was in room 219 and saw roaches. One crawled into a crack in the wall around midnight before I could kill it. Later, when I got up to use the bathroom, I turned on the light and found two more on the white towels on the floor. It made my skin crawl. I didn’t move rooms because that would have meant waking my mother, moving our two dogs, and bringing in all the plants I had with me so they wouldn’t freeze in the car. I’m bummed because I liked this place, but the bugs are a deal breaker and I probably won’t stay again.

Grille 22, the attached bar and restaurant, and the hotel were both clean, and I felt safe there. Everyone was friendly and attentive from check-in through dinner and checkout. Our waitress Brittaney did a phenomenal job. The staff went above and beyond, and I highly recommend the hotel and restaurant.
