Oasis Resort Gulfport

Our whole family enjoyed the relaxed, welcoming feel at Oasis Resort. We loved having quiet spots to walk, read, watch birds, and take in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The pool and water features made it a fun family stay and a good value. Five stars, we'd happily recommend it.

The water park and putt putt golf were a hit, and the food tasted good, though it was overpriced. Our room was a nice size, but the drains ran very slowly. There were carpet stains and obvious marks where furniture had been moved. If you're allergic to mold, you might have a flare-up.

The arcade was huge, and the pool, slides, and lazy river made for a great spring break with my kids. The charges, though, turned a pleasant visit into a frustrating one. I booked at $149, which seemed reasonable, but the final bill came to $270, and another $67 hit my account today. I had cleaned the room and even made the bed, so I'm not sure what that charge was for. The itemized bill showed four fees that seemed unusual, including two separate 7% charges and service fees. It also appeared to charge us for things we didn't use: we didn't order room service, drink the coffee, or open the two bottles of water in the room. I recommend Oasis Resort, but check the bill carefully for charges you didn't expect or services you didn't receive.

The arcade at Hippy Fish was clean, well kept, and had a great range of games. Our family had a lot of fun there. The room was clean too, though the bathroom light switch was oddly outside the door, there was no bedside table, and the bathroom had no fan, so showers left a lot of steam and moisture. We stayed over Labor Day weekend, and the waterpark was another high point. There were plenty of towels and a nice mix of areas, from the pool and lazy river to big slides and a small splash area for younger kids. Seating was limited, though, and there weren't sun umbrellas. There seemed to be room for more tables, chairs, and shade. The only restroom was outside the waterpark in a separate building, which was especially inconvenient with small children. I saw mothers changing diapers on poolside chairs and tables, probably because there wasn't a restroom inside. Service and meals were a letdown. I waited 15 minutes at the swim-up bar while both bartenders didn't even look my way, then left without being served. Dinner at Oasis Bar and Grill on our first night was enjoyable for the adults, but the kids' pizza was so unappealing that our usual pizza-loving children only ate a few bites. The next morning, even though the restaurant wasn't busy, we waited 20 minutes to be seated and got a dirty table. Our food came before the utensils. My avocado toast was inedible, with soggy bread, rotten avocado, and rubbery eggs. The kids' pancakes seemed pre-cooked and left under a heat lamp, and the coffee was watery and unpleasant. Service at both the pool bar and restaurant disappointed us. The waterpark and arcade might bring us back, but we would avoid the food and drinks. Those parts, along with the inconvenient restroom setup and the small room issues, left us with mixed feelings. The place has potential, but it isn't five-star yet.
