The shower got nice and hot, the bed was comfortable, and the coffee was good, but we left a day early because the room and service were so disappointing. We chose to pay for an extra day rather than stay, and they wouldn’t refund us. I hope not to stay here again. The room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. There was an opened soap packet, a wet towel in the shower, a cigar butt and dirty toothpaste in the sink, and a pastry wrapper in the trash. There was no liner for the ice bucket, and the hotel’s ice machine didn’t work. A live earwig-type bug was on the floor, and the smoke detector was missing essential parts. The refrigerator made a noise like someone snoring, and I wondered whether the sheets had been changed. Breakfast wasn’t the Choice Hotel breakfast I expected. It was instant oatmeal or cold cereal, with half a gallon of shared milk and a communal peanut butter jar but no loaf of bread. The sugar dispenser was empty, and there were no napkins in the eating area. They never brought us soap or shampoo, and the room’s TV remote didn’t work. They should mention as an amenity that the highway speed limit is 75 mph.

The place is fine, I guess, but the front desk seems to be left unattended a lot. I arrived at 8 pm last night and found the lobby locked, so I had to call. Then I went down for breakfast at 8 am this morning and it was locked up again. I’ve never seen the lobby desk so short on staff.

The room was clean and comfortable, and I do feel for the owner. Still, an absent receptionist and poor customer service at reasonable hours could hurt the business over time. I arrived around 8:30 PM and waited about 10-15 minutes to check in because the front door was locked. I called numerous times and was nearly ready to leave before someone appeared. The woman at the desk was dismissive and handed me the key card without greeting or acknowledging me. I stayed polite, so her reaction felt uncalled for, but I let it go. At 9 AM the next morning the front office was locked again, and I couldn’t get the breakfast that was supposed to be included.

Customer service was absolutely horrible. We never checked in, but when I tried to start a refund, the person who answered hung up on me. Very unprofessional, and no way to treat the public. I’d never recommend this place. Trash service gets trash reviews. Get it together.
