La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Guthrie

The staff were friendly, but I found a spider inside a folded “clean” towel and a dead cricket in the stairwell. At 9am, a staff member woke us by POUNDING on the door to ask if we wanted housekeeping. I wish they’d asked about our preference at check-in.

The hallways smelled musty at first. In our room, there was black mold along the shower edges, and the air conditioner didn’t work right, so the room often got warmer than the unit’s setting. The morning buffet had no tea or butter. When I asked the young woman working there, very politely, she acted as though I was being too much trouble. I can’t say the same for how she spoke to me.

The beds were VERY comfortable, and the hotel was clean and pet friendly. In my opinion, the pet fee at a La Quinta is way too high. The pool was so cold our 3 year old’s lips started turning blue. Breakfast was our biggest complaint, even the kids left hungry. For a quick overnight stop, though, I’d recommend it.

When I asked to have the room cleaned, they reused the same sheets, pillowcases, and towels instead of giving me fresh ones, and they didn’t vacuum. The room phone didn’t work, the pool was closed, and my key card wouldn’t open the fitness center. I reported it to Mercedes at the front desk, but she was rude and stood there glaring at me. That changed my attitude. The lobby coffee was never fresh or hot. We had two rooms, and I won’t stay again. Awful experience, never again.
