The listing doesn’t match the property’s current condition, and this location didn’t live up to the Comfort Inn we’d enjoyed in Wytheville, Virginia. If you need a very cheap room and don’t care much about upkeep or amenities, it might do. We wouldn’t choose it for the standard we expected. The pool was empty during our stay, though that hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. The building needs a lot of maintenance: the shower pressure was very low, the mattresses visibly sagged, the men’s lobby restroom hand dryer was broken, and the bathroom shampoo dispenser had come off the wall. The fitness room was just one universal machine and a treadmill. Breakfast was a letdown, with cold food that looked like it might be left over from the day before. The lemon water was plain tap water, which is fine, but it should have been labeled clearly. We saw staff on three shifts. Two seemed to spend a lot of time on their phones, although they were courteous with guests. The morning worker appeared to be handling nearly everything alone, including cleaning, breakfast setup, and trash, so the place seems understaffed.

The walls are so thin I could hear a man yelling down the hall. The room did have a bed, but mine hadn’t been cleaned well. I only noticed after waking up from my night shift. The photo shows dried ramen noodles, and there was also a bottle cap in the closet. That part wasn’t a huge deal, but it added to the impression. I’ll pay more for a different hotel next time.

The room itself was okay, and the staff were okay too. But the shower head was broken and there was hardly any water pressure. The shower wand couldn’t be used, which must be hard for guests with disabilities, and there was mold all around the ceiling. The heater thermostat was broken: set to 70, it got close to 90, then shut off in the middle of the night.

Jennifer was a gem. The breakfast options were limited to cereal, pastries, yogurt, and a waffle iron. The coffee was fantastic, but there were no eggs or meat, so I wouldn’t really call it breakfast. We stayed because we needed a place that allowed our service dog, but we were charged for her. The room was okay, though it had been heavily sprayed with air freshener or carpet cleaner to cover the smell of previous animals. I’ll keep that in mind next time. The tub drained poorly, and when I checked, it was full of hair.

The sausage gravy at breakfast was amazing, and the waffles were really good too. This was seriously one of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed at in Maryland. I’ll definitely be back!
