Aspen Suites Hotel Haines

The front desk was ready with directions and suggestions, and both check-in and checkout were easy. Aspen Suites is on Main Street, close enough to walk to shops and restaurants, with a grocery store right across the way. Our room felt spacious and spotless, with a full kitchenette that made it feel homey. The bed and pillows were especially comfortable. It’s a newer two-story hotel, and the free Wi-Fi, in-room coffee, and lobby coffee and tea station were all handy. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

What stood out most was how the staff helped when my wife had an urgent medical issue. The receptionist and hotel manager went out of their way to make sure she got the medical attention she needed. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it very much. Our room was quiet because it faced the view, and it was clean with a comfortable bed. The hotel is centrally located on Haines’s main street. Free tea and coffee are available at reception whenever it’s open.

I was in Haines on a business trip last September, and the hotel made the travel logistics much easier. A very nice woman at the desk let me leave my luggage while I waited to check in. My ferry off the island wasn’t until later, and she kindly let me stay beyond checkout so I wouldn’t have to spend as long waiting in the cold. Much appreciated. The rooms were clean and modern. I’d highly recommend the hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable, but a few things weren’t working. The TV and some lights were out, and when I called the 24-hour number after 6pm, the on-call person sounded annoyed and said it wasn’t the hotel’s fault. I don’t come to Haines to sit in a room, but after a day out exploring, a little light and maybe an episode of Forensic Files to fall asleep to would’ve been nice.
