Key West Inn - Hamilton

The rooms were nice, clean, and comfortable, but customer service could have been better. My wife left her credit card there, and when we came back through Alabama, we hoped to get it and stay another night. The man at the counter couldn't return it because we were meant to call 24 hours ahead, which we forgot to do, our fault. I had another credit card, two business debit cards with my name, and $200 cash, but only my wife's ID. He just said he couldn't help us and didn't seem to care. I understand the company policy, but he was rude and didn't seem to try to find a solution.

Brendon greeted me with a smile at the front desk and made sure I had a pleasant stay. My room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the modest price felt right. I can't imagine a nicer hotel in the area.

The hotel was nice and clean. That's about the only good thing I can say. The beds felt like sleeping on the floor, and the pillows were like wooden boards. We could hear every move from upstairs, including footsteps, showers, and every toilet flush. The showers were so loud they woke us up. You're not allowed to smoke near the building, yet the second floor is smoking??? The vending machines weren't stocked, and everything we tried to buy was sold out. When I told the front desk lady, she acted like she could care less. The internet was fine when no one else was using it. Honestly, dial-up would've been faster. Someone parked in the first entrance, so we had to take our 26-foot moving truck through the extremely small entrance. There was barely room, and we almost went into the ditch. When we complained, we got blank stares like this was normal. Hotel staff also started sweeping and vacuuming the hallways at 5 a.m. The ridiculous price wasn't worth it. No matter how tired I am next time, I'll keep driving.

My family and I stopped here at 1:30 a.m. on the way through to Florida and got a warm welcome when we came in. Our room was spacious, with two queen beds that fit everyone. A very nice southern gentleman welcomed us at checkout and even brought my kids some yummy cookies for the rest of the trip. I'd come back anytime.
