Comfort Inn Hammond

I'll never return. After a late check-in, I found hair all over the tub, a used washcloth full of hair hanging over the rod, and a gum wrapper on the floor. The bathroom plainly hadn't been cleaned. When I reported it, the response was just “ok.” I waited half an hour for someone to come clean the shower, then went to the desk because I needed to shower. The housekeeper was rude and said it wasn't her job to “double back,” then said I should have told her sooner. I was polite and understand mistakes happen, but I couldn't report a dirty shower before I knew about it. I expect a clean shower in a rented room. She eventually cleaned the bathroom unwillingly and with an attitude. They offered to move us, but by then it was pointless.

We picked this place for one night on the way through because of its location, price, and the chance it had a pool. One website didn't list a pool, another did. It turned out to be outdoors but enclosed: you go through a hotel door into the enclosure, without actually going outside. The water was very cold, though we enjoyed a short swim. The desk staff were nice and helpful. It was so quiet and empty that it made us a bit sad. You can hear the train, but it stops around 10 pm and starts again around 6 am. The hotel is older and could use paint and updates, though everything was clean, comfortable, and adequate. Doorways had lots of chipped paint, an easy cosmetic fix. Some kind of coating on the entry and bathroom floors made them slippery. The microwave cord couldn't reach an outlet. Our room had a jacuzzi, a nice extra in the suites, but we didn't use it. We wonder when upgrades or remodeling might happen.

Steve greeted me with such a warm welcome. My room was roomy and spotless, and the bed was incredibly soft. I'd seen some negative reviews and had doubts, but my stay was nothing like those. I'd absolutely come back.

The housekeeping women were wonderful. They cleaned the rooms so well, were extremely kind, and made us feel welcome. I hope they get a good raise, they definitely deserve one!
