Red Roof Inn Hampton Coliseum

The smoke alarm outside kept beeping every minute, and after I showered I decided my truck would be a better place to sleep. The room was disgusting: dirty walls with sticky spots, stained sheets, and a filthy shower mat already there when I arrived. They offered another room, as if I'd want to stay after seeing all that. Gross. I'd give zero stars if I could.

I’m grateful Red Roof Inn still had rooms when I arrived at what was supposed to be a Days Inn, but I’ll book somewhere else for Neko Con next year. The first night, there were dirty towels, stained sheets, grime all over the bathroom, a filthy window, broken lights, and the floor turned my bare feet black. There were boogers on the shower curtain, rust and dirt in the shower, and food messes left around the room. On day two, after room service had come by, we came back to a big sticky puddle on the floor. No one returned to clean for the rest of our five-day stay. At 8 a.m. on checkout day, three hours before the 11 a.m. checkout, my key card quit working while I was loading the car, so I had to go to the office to sort it out. The maintenance and room service staff were loud and drinking in the parking lot every night, and one nearly spat on me while spitting over the second-floor balcony.

The room felt neglected. I had to clean the bathroom floor myself, with black dirt packed into every corner, and there was a spiderweb on the ceiling. The bathroom was gross. The huge window and its sill were dirty, and paint rubbed off when I touched the glass area, so it clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Wind also rushed under the doors with a whooshing sound. Just gross.

I feel like part of the family whenever I come here. The front desk woman recognizes me by name as soon as I walk in, and my room is clean. I’d just like the little tissues put back in the room, plus a TV guide so I don’t have to flip through every channel to find something.
