The Seascape Inn

The building and grounds were clean and welcoming, and the location across from the beach is very good. But service was uneven, and the beds were awful. Before we arrived, the manager called to collect payment and sent several reminders that there were no refunds. When we got there, nobody was on site and the key had been left in an open room. The room was cute and very clean, but damp the whole four days. Getting into those wet beds each night felt like camping in a soaked sleeping bag. My bed’s broken box spring made the mattress sag like a hammock, and I was sore enough to look forward to my own bed at home. There weren’t enough working outlets, so we argued about who could charge a phone, and I noticed some questionable electrical work. The office is staffed only from 9-2 daily, and there’s no room service. We didn’t know that and ran out of towels and toilet paper on day two. A very polite person brought more once we figured out what to do. The balcony ocean view is overstated, just a glimpse between two large houses. I might come back for one night at the reasonable price, but couldn’t manage a longer stay.

We booked at the last minute despite the bad reviews, and now I wish we’d paid attention to them. The only real plus was being close to the beach. The room seemed badly outdated and as if it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The rusty microwave and what looked like mold on its plate made us avoid using it; the shower had mold too. The uneven, dipping floors made all of us dizzy, and the old, uncomfortable beds left us with back pain. One bed tilted to one side, the other sagged in the middle. If comfort and cleanliness matter to you, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

It’s a great price for a no-frills place, and the beach is just across the street. I’ve returned for the last three years because it’s an easy way to get away from the crowds.

Clean rooms, helpful staff, a good price, and a great location made this a really good stay. Kelly deserves a special mention for going above and beyond to get our family’s beloved stuffed animal back to us after checkout.
