Kings Rest Motel

The landscaping is nice and the grounds are well kept. Even right beside Highway 41, The Kings Rest feels safe and quiet. My room smelled clean, everything in it worked, and the staff were friendly and communicated well.

I’ll come back the next time I’m in the area. The manager was very personable and professional, and my short visit was comfortable. The bed and shower were great, and the desk and chair worked perfectly for a few hours of laptop work. I was in room #101.

It was an okay place to sleep for the night, though it’s old and dated. The bedspread had a tear or burn, I couldn’t tell which. I paid about $115 a night plus a $20 deposit. I didn’t spot bedbugs or cockroaches.

We had booked for four, but the room came with just two towels and half a roll of toilet paper. Asking for more made us feel like a bother. They also supplied only two bottles of water, even though you can’t drink the tap water, so a two queen room should have at least four. The wifi was useless, and when it connected, it was painfully slow. After a day at the beach with our daughter, who is stationed there, we came back hoping for a cool room, but housekeeping had turned off the AC. With temperatures at or above 100, that was really disappointing.
