Motel 6 Hannibal, MO

This was a perfect stop on my way to Mark Twain National Forest. I was traveling with my 100 lb dog, and there’s no weight limit. Two pets can stay free, with a $15 charge for a third. My room was nice, better than I expected, and the staff were friendly. I got my pet deposit back. There’s free WiFi and restaurants nearby. Thank you!

I stayed one night with my daughter, and this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. We only stayed because it was 10:30 at night and she was exhausted. The girl who showed us to the room was polite, so I have nothing against her. We had to try three rooms because the AC and fan weren’t working. In the room where the fan worked, both beds’ blankets had cigarette burns all over them. Then we saw hair and stains on the sheets, big yellow stains on the box spring under the bed, a broken shower that only trickled water, and a window that was broken and wouldn’t lock. The security latch also didn’t work, so we couldn’t secure the door from inside. I told the woman in the morning what happened and asked to speak to the manager. She took my number and said she’d sort it out and hopefully get me a refund. Days passed with no word. I called several times to reach the manager, but got nowhere. I called again a few days later when they said he’d be in, and still nothing. I’d rate it zero if I could. I strongly recommend avoiding this sick, disgusting hotel.

The clerk at the window around 6:00 on Wednesday was absolutely wonderful. Traveling with a pet, I found the location easy to reach right off the highway. The area seemed safe, and there was food and gas close by. The doors leading outside had security locks. The property is old and dated, and the room was a bit rough. The bed was pretty hard. I know some people may find it perfectly fine, but I’d try somewhere else next time.

We’ve been staying at Motel 6 places while traveling, and the one in Hannibal, MO matched our experience at the others: clean, comfortable, and a great bargain, especially with a dog. The room costs half what most other places charge, and there’s no pet fee. The lobby coffee was very good. My one suggestion would be to replace the styrofoam cups with paper ones.
