The owner was so kind and shared her favorite spots for cross-country skiing. I ended up in a quiet, snowy woodland that felt like Narnia, and had a great adventure. I’ll happily come back. This place is a real gem in Keene Valley, right in the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks, with easy access to hiking, climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing. The staff were warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and everything was spotlessly clean. After a day out, the roaring downstairs fire and Stickley-style chairs with ottomans made a great place to relax and swap stories with fellow travelers. It was fun seeing those like-minded guests quickly become friends. There’s a well-equipped kitchen upstairs with everything you might need, even travel mugs. It’s very dog friendly, and I loved the perfect beds, natural wood furniture, and all the places to hang gear. If you’re into adventure, nature, and wildlife, you’ll feel at home here. It was great fun, the value was very good, and I’ll be back without hesitation. OMG, enjoy!

I loved sitting on the porch during my two-night stay at the Rooster Comb Inn this past weekend. It’s a relaxed, perfect spot for hikers, with the feel of a lodge or hostel where you can come and go. Check-in is self-serve and the rooms are ready. There’s a communal kitchen and an outdoor grill if you bring groceries. Keene Valley is a super cute little town with the essentials, including a small market, a diner two doors down, and a dinner spot two blocks away. Magdalena, the innkeeper, is wonderful. If you’re an early-rising hiker who wants a self-serve lodge, this is it. I’ll definitely be back. There’s also a B&B up the road for anyone wanting that full B&B experience. -Jeffrey

We had four people in the Spread Eagle room for three nights around the Juneteenth holiday. We arrived about 1 pm Thursday, found the host as soon as we parked, and got our key. We checked out Sunday morning. A little over $500 for four beds felt like a great price. Saturday was especially humid after the rain, and with the daytime heat, the room got uncomfortable without air-conditioning. We were able to borrow table fans. There’s a shared fridge and kitchen area, plus a wooden bench where you can sit and work. The top floor has a large restroom with a washer and dryer, and a separate toilet nearby, though the laundry machines are for the housekeeper only. There’s also a separate toilet and shower on the ground floor. Ausable Inn and Noon Mark restaurants are within walking distance, as is the Rooster Comb trailhead for the Great Range Traverse, which three of us did on Friday.

I’ve stayed at the Rooster Comb Inn a few times while hiking the nearby peaks, and Magdalena has been an excellent host each visit. Everything, from the rooms to the common areas, is immaculately clean, and the amenities are top notch. Arriving late is easy with the late check-in, and being able to bring pets is a big help when traveling with furry friends. I can’t recommend this Inn enough!

We had a fun time meeting and chatting with other guests in the evenings. The Rooster Comb Inn is clean, a great value, and well placed for trailheads and other Adirondack adventures. The rooms are basic, but they worked well for our hiking weekend with friends. The room AC was great in summer, and the shared bathrooms were easy enough to use as needed. We barely used the shared kitchen, but it’s handy to have one available. The owners also helped me get back an item I’d left behind. Thanks for a great stay!
