Best Western Plus Hardeeville Inn & Suites

After a long drive, we needed somewhere to rest and stopped at the first place we saw, the Best Western Plus. The Best Western brand has been great in the past, including during national disasters, and I appreciate it, but this stay was nothing like that. I usually stay in four- or five-star hotels, though this and other motels were the only choices here. The room next to ours had a dog that barked just five feet past the check-in area. I had signed a waiver saying I wouldn't bring a pet, and staff told me pets weren't allowed, even though the ad we found said they were (see pictures). It was cold, so because of that, I had to leave my pet in the car. The staff also wouldn't honor the ad: we got neither the 15% rate reduction nor the membership discount (see picture). There were vibrations coming from the room beside us, too. I couldn't give this experience a minus five, but that would've been my score. I wouldn't recommend this location because of these practices. Switch drivers before stopping here.

Breakfast was good, and the late-night check-in went smoothly. The staff were nice. The elevator felt a bit scary, though. The room seemed nice at first, until I saw the roaches everyone had mentioned. Someone was shot across the street that same night. That wasn't the hotel's fault, but it made for an interesting night.

The bed was comfortable and the room was fairly clean, but the bathroom was questionable. The shower wasn't clean, and caulk was missing or peeling; there was mold on the walls, with signs someone had tried to cover it up. The fitness center was lacking too: three of its five pieces of equipment didn't work, and there was nothing to wipe them down with. Breakfast was average. Food smells filled the second floor, as if someone cooked in a room regularly, and strong air fresheners seemed to be covering both that and the mold. My allergies went into overdrive during the stay.

The best thing about this place is how close it is to the I-95 exit. I stopped at Best Western Hardeeville for one night while driving back from Florida. The rooms were clean, though they smelled a little musty, and breakfast was very basic. Check-in took a while because it was hard to find anyone at reception. For the service provided, the price felt a bit high.
