The woman at the desk was genuinely kind and offered suggestions for places to visit in Savannah. I felt bad writing this because of her, but the stay itself was disappointing. I usually choose budget rooms and wasn't expecting anything fancy. I booked for a two-night Halloween trip because I wanted to see Savannah without spending much. The room looked old and dirty as soon as I walked in. I called to check whether it had been cleaned and was told it had been the day before, but the sheets, comforter, towels, and other washable items were stained. I asked for replacements, and those were stained too, so I gave up on the promised deep clean the next day and managed without it. The mattress was comfortable, though there was no protector on the box spring. The body soap had expired more than a year and a half earlier, and the shower barely had any pressure. I also felt uneasy seeing a police officer in the parking lot all the time, and on the first night a man yelled while walking up and down the property.
There was no real help on site. Check-in meant using a kiosk to speak with someone overseas who seemed disconnected from the property, and the whole process felt confusing and sketchy. When anything goes wrong, you're left trying to sort it out through a screen in a dingy lobby. I didn't feel secure or reassured that anyone cared what happened to guests. The room was filthy and smelled as if it hadn't been cleaned properly for a long time. The carpet and surfaces were stained and dirty, the bed was uncomfortable, and the linens seemed questionable. I slept in my clothes because I didn't trust the room's cleanliness. The bathroom had weak pressure, worn fixtures, and thin, rough towels that smelled damp. Noise carried all night, from traffic and slamming doors to everything coming through the thin walls. The AC was loud and unreliable, barely working at times and then sounding like it might break through the wall. With no staff there to take responsibility and everything routed through the kiosk and a person thousands of miles away, there was nobody who could help or fix anything. This place cuts so many corners that it feels neglected and unsafe. If you're on I-95, keep driving. I wouldn't stay here again.
The woman checking us in was very nice, but the room was vile. I only needed a few hours of sleep on the drive home from Florida and didn't expect much from an Econo Lodge. Still, this place hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time, and there was hair in the sink. It was cold, so we tried the heat, but a smell like burning flesh started coming from the unit. They offered free breakfast, though after seeing the room we wanted nothing to do with the food. I wish I'd read the reviews first.
Sonyandria at the front desk was the kindest, sweetest, most personable and helpful clerk I've ever met. The property was quiet, so sleeping was easy. Our room was clean and nice, with a comfortable bed and a TV of a good size. I'll definitely stay here again.
The building's exterior and lobby seemed OK, but both rooms we rented were in bad shape. The first hadn't been cleaned or touched since the previous occupant moved out, and the shower handle fell off. A maintenance worker had to take lamps from another room to help us. Our friends' room was bad too. The property needs a full renovation, and we had to wait for breakfast items to be put out.
