Economy Inn

There were roaches all over the room, including several baby ones frozen in the fridge. It looked like nobody had cleaned in a while, and both the shower head and toilet were broken. Then someone started using a leaf blower or lawnmower around 7:30 in the morning. The whole stay was awful. I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to share the room with roaches and deal with unsanitary conditions.

It was passable for one night, but the bed was awful. The bathroom door had only a knob, wouldn't close all the way, and there wasn't even a hole in the frame for it to shut into. If you're bringing a dog, watch out by the lake. There's an alligator about 8 feet long that might come say hi.

The man working there seems to be the only staff member, and he's friendly enough. The room wasn't especially clean, just clean enough, but I checked for bedbugs and thankfully didn't find any. The place is a bit old and could use some proper repairs here and there. It's an inexpensive, functional enough spot to sleep.

We stopped here on the way to South Florida and were glad we did. Gary let us look at room 114 before we paid, which was kind of him. We checked reviews for nearby places and saw lots of reports of bugs, so we inspected carefully. There was no sign of pests, including after we woke up, and the shower pressure was great. It's clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced if all you need is an honest night's sleep. Don't expect bells and whistles.
