Motel 6 Harlingen, TX

Recently remodeled and very inexpensive. The room was clean, quiet, and had new towels, so it worked well for a restful night on the road. There are no frills: no mini fridge or microwave, just two pillows, two little bars of soap, toilet paper, and no shampoo or other amenities. I didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean from my room.

The room smelled like pee, was dirty, and had bed bugs.

The best part was how nice the night shift staff were. The person there when I tried to check out the next morning was different, though. I had to clear my throat and say “excuse me” just to get him to turn around and talk to me. I try hard not to leave negative reviews, and I should’ve checked the reviews before booking somewhere new. The amenities are very limited: no microwave, mini fridge, or real breakfast. That might be fine for an hourly place, but this is a Motel 6 on the interstate. Major concern, the security door by the side of the building and back parking lot doesn’t lock. You don’t need a key card to enter from the back or side, and I had to force the door just to get it fully closed. That feels dangerous.

A huge roach showed up when I pulled in, and I ran to the front to get away from it. Then the lady there turned into a monster and chased me back to my room. I thought I was safe, but woke up to a huge spider while I was sleeping. Please be safe and don’t come here.
