Super 8 Harrington

We booked a king suite that was supposed to include a sitting area, mini fridge, and coffee pot, but our first room had none of them. The staff were courteous enough and moved us to another room. That one smelled bad, and while the bathroom was clean, the carpet, chairs, and fixtures were dirty. The sheets looked clean but didn't smell that way, and the bedspread and blankets were filthy. I know this is an economy hotel and wasn't expecting luxury, but I do expect cleanliness. I couldn't sleep there, so we checked out early. Wouldn't recommend it.

Paying $95 a night for a two-bedroom room wasn’t what I wanted, but the attendant said that was all they had left. I was too tired to keep driving and look elsewhere. There was plenty of space, with a small table and two chairs plus an armchair. The stale air was another problem. The window wouldn’t open, and even on low the air conditioner fan was pretty noisy. The room also didn’t seem to have been cleaned well. A towel and the ottoman were stained, and I could smell strong bleach. There was a forgotten hand towel over the shower curtain, black hairs in the tub, and even a cobweb with a tiny spider on the toilet tank. Moving the table showed that the rug hadn’t been vacuumed properly either.

That bed felt like a brick, and the pillows were small. They could at least have put four on the bed. The bathroom door hit the sink, so even washing my hands meant stepping inside and closing the door. The old refrigerator did work, and the price was decent. I only needed somewhere to rest before driving home, and the check-in representative was nice. The hotel picture was the best part.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and it stayed very quiet for most of my two nights. The room was mostly clean, and the housekeeping staff member who brought fresh towels was really pleasant to talk to. I appreciated that. But the coffee maker was gross. I wouldn’t use it, and I don’t know if it could make anyone sick. It didn’t look like anyone had shown them how to clean it with vinegar and water. I posted a photo for reference. The bathroom also had a pretty strong old-man urine smell, which was unpleasant. The front desk lady wasn’t very pleasant, and the whole interaction felt awkward. Breakfast being right across from the check-in and checkout desk made things even more awkward. Bring a pillow too, because theirs weren’t comfortable. We won’t come back. We’ll return to our usual Super 8 on Lebanon instead. It’s clean, the staff are awesome, and there’s always plenty of hot and cold breakfast. It’s good if you have kids or are short on money and want to save by eating the provided food.
