Candlewood Suites Harrisburg - Hershey by IHG

I’d stayed here in previous years and it had been okay, but this time it was the worst hotel I’ve ever been in. The room smelled of smoke, the TV didn’t work, and there wasn’t any toilet paper in the bathroom. Loud banging from inside the wall kept me awake all night, maybe from the heat ducts expanding and contracting. There was an old-style coffee maker but no condiments, so the morning wasn’t any better. I’d recommend staying somewhere else.

The evening front desk ladies were absolutely lovely, and most of the staff were nice. That’s the only reason I’m giving two stars. We had to switch rooms four times, and even the last one had problems. One room didn’t have a working shower, the beds were old and lumpy, and it took 30 minutes for the water to start feeling warm. I also had to deal with a broken TV and a room that wasn’t clean. The hotel needs major renovations, especially the beds and plumbing. There’s only one elevator, and it sounded sketchy while we were riding it. One morning, a front desk guy was on a personal call and rude while I waited for help. The place is clearly being neglected, and guests shouldn’t have to move four times to get a working shower, TV, or clean room.

The hotel was in awful shape. The second floor smelled bad, with garbage right outside the elevator, and there were dirty linens and towels beside our room door. The stairs were covered in trash too. In the bedroom, the pillows had no cases. The dishwasher hadn’t been emptied, and we were told to unload it ourselves. There weren’t enough towels, and there was no shower gel. None of the TVs in the hotel worked. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The owner later sent a generic reply that seemed to be the same one used for every complaint, but I didn’t see any concrete action being taken.

The hotel was very dirty, and there was no hot water on the fourth floor. I asked maintenance to clear the tub drain and requested a room change several times, but was ignored. They offered me extra points for the inconvenience. I don’t need points, I just want a clean room with hot water.
