Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Harrisburg Northeast - Hershey

Jason, the manager, is a good guy and does a nice job trying to accommodate guests as best he can. The rooms were clean and seemed to have been renovated fairly recently. The pool is really nice, too. Not a bad deal.

On the return leg of our road trip, a severe ice and freezing rain storm caused major travel problems across the Northeast, with lots of reported accidents on icy roads. I'm from out West and had no experience driving on an “ice” coast, so the conditions were unlike anything I'd seen and were nerve-racking. My family was stressed, but we were able to book another room here along with other tired travelers. The hotel looked full, yet the staff handled everyone so well. I hope they know how much my family and I appreciated them. Great job, staff. You're the champs of the day! On the way north, I'd booked this place on a whim without knowing what to expect. I was surprised by how clean it was inside and out, and our room was clean and comfortable after a long day on the road. The staff were friendly and hospitable. For one night, it was great value on a long trip. Thanks so much. Looking forward to staying here on the return trip, which we did.

The whole night was miserable. Children ran up and down the halls, banged on doors including ours, and pulled at the doorknob. My fiancé and stepdaughter were kept awake most of the night, with no meaningful effort from staff to stop the disruption. The hot tub was another serious problem. The chlorine was so strong that our eyes started burning as soon as we got in, and the exposure tarnished two of my rings. We got out almost immediately. Afterward, my fiancé had visible skin irritation, redness, and inflammation. It was very concerning, and made the chlorine seem unsafe. No guest should have a physical reaction like that from a hotel amenity. Earlier, after check-in, we asked for another blanket and pillow. We were told they'd bring them, but after four hours nothing had arrived. When we called again, staff said they'd forgotten the request. The next day I asked for a first-night refund because of these problems, but was refused. I then asked whether they could offer one or two complimentary nights instead. Staff had been texting me up to that point, but stopped responding as soon as I asked. Being ignored after a legitimate complaint was unprofessional and frustrating. After I kept following up, the hotel eventually said it would refund our stay, which I appreciate, but it took far too much effort to resolve. I stayed at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Harrisburg Northeast – Hershey, and the experience was awful from start to finish. Between the forgotten request, chemical exposure and damage, sleepless night, and poor service, I wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of other options in the Hershey/Harrisburg area that I'm sure would be much better and safer.

Mason on the night shift was really friendly and helpful, and Chris in the morning was kind and personable. He showed genuine interest by asking how things were going, which made the stay feel welcoming. I stayed in a clean, comfortable king room on the first floor, Room 137. It was simple and a little bare bones, but fine for a quick night. The bed was okay, though the pillows were thin, and the walls were thin enough to hear some noise. Breakfast was decent: sausage, yogurt, cereal, orange and apple juice, plus a waffle maker with small and Belgian waffle options. Hash browns or potatoes would have been nice, but it was still a good quick meal. The lobby has a nice area with kids' activities like coloring and large checkers, a thoughtful family touch. There is free Wi-Fi and an indoor pool open 6 AM-10 PM, and the place feels comfortable overall. A solid family-friendly overnight stay. I'd come back.
