The room they gave me had a TV that wasn't working at the time, though it has since been fixed, and the dishwasher still doesn't work. I'm a Titanium member, so it makes me wonder what sort of room a regular guest might get. I've been here for an extended work stay, around 19 days, I think. Housekeeping comes every other day, but I haven't received fresh tissues or towel paper since checking in. When I've asked at the desk, those supplies weren't available, and once I was told they had no clean regular towels either. I'd rather not blow my nose in a towel other guests might use. There are other problems too. The fitness room has a treadmill out of order, the stairwells are a mess, and the showers don't reliably have hot water. Breakfast is limited, and sometimes the drink dispensers don't work. The shortages seem like they could be a management issue, though I'm not sure how it works. Someone should be keeping track of inventory. I gave two stars rather than one because the front desk woman went out of her way to give me two bottles of water and let me choose an actual snack for my Titanium benefit. I was tired from a flight and didn't want to go to Walmart just for water. The maintenance guys have also been great, and the price is reasonable. I'm on the government rate, about $100 instead of roughly $170 in this area, so it saves my company money.

The people who showed me real professionalism were the younger staff member with braids, who was kind and respectful, and Assistant Manager Brandi Orgeron, who listened to my concerns at checkout and handled them with understanding. Their efforts couldn't make up for the stay. It was disappointing, emotionally draining, and far below what I expect from Marriott. One out of five. The room was extremely hot because a previous employee had turned off the thermostat, the drawers were already damaged, and the general cleanliness made me uncomfortable. I asked several times for fresh towels, but none were brought. I also found staff member Tronesha rude, confrontational, and unprofessional from the start. Rather than helping sort things out, she escalated the problems. Some of her comments felt inappropriate and left me uneasy. I felt disrespected and unsafe in a place where I expected to be able to rest.

The location is great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Still, I left a day early, though I couldn't find another place nearby over Thanksgiving and had to stay. This hotel needs to close for refurbishment. The doors wouldn't shut because the wood was damaged, there were bugs in the first-floor rooms, and the living-room AC didn't work. The sofa should be replaced, and the breakfast could be better. The fridge was broken, so the milk inside had spoiled. This isn't suitable condition for an operating Marriott.

We had an easy weekend stay, despite the reviews that had worried me. The front desk staff were welcoming and friendly, and the AC worked fine once we turned it down to 60. I would've left right away if I'd seen a roach, since I'm terrified of them, but we didn't see any. The rooms could use some updating. We used Bonvoy points to stay for free during Mardi Gras, so no complaints from us. If you just need a basic room with a kitchen and a comfortable night's sleep, this does the job.
