GrandStay Hotel & Suites Hastings

The front desk staff were outstanding, helping us out and answering our questions. We had a great room, though we treated ourselves to the jacuzzi suite, and loved the morning breakfast, especially the biscuits and gravy. Great service, and they’re pet-friendly too!

The bed was super comfortable and the jacuzzi was really nice. The room was put together well, and for the price, it was much nicer than the somewhat spooky exterior suggested. I didn’t notice much dirt, and apart from one spider in the bathroom when we arrived, there were no other bug issues. The staff were kind. We came for my 18th birthday, and while the reviews had scared me, we’re planning to return since the casino is only a five-minute drive away. I’d recommend staying here, though if cleanliness and bugs are a major concern for you, you might want to try somewhere else. Bring an extra blanket if you need one, since the one on the bed wasn’t very thick, though I was fine with it.

The price was great, and the front desk woman was kind and brought us extra blankets, but we were super disappointed. I’d reserved the suite, yet there was no fireplace, the pull-out couch was broken, and the room only had a regular tub. There were four adults and one bed, and when we asked for a cot or another arrangement, she couldn’t help. There was a wedding that weekend and no other rooms were available. Two of us slept on the floor, and we got no compensation or refund for the inconvenience. There were also millipedes in the bathroom.

The rooms were very clean and needed no repairs, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Staff were polite. Still, the rooms need updating and have old technology and cheap furnishings. Breakfast was basic: cereal, toast, yogurt, and hard-boiled eggs, with no hot food like scrambled eggs or sausage.
