Quality Inn Hastings

The spot is quiet and set back far enough from the highway that you don’t hear much traffic. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable, even though the motel is showing its age. Breakfast was fair, with something for most people, though options may be limited if you have restrictions like gluten. We didn’t use enough of the services to give it five stars, but for the price, we’d stay again.

I asked them to leave my Fire Stick at the front desk, then suddenly nobody knew where it was. It was stolen. There’s also never anyone at the desk, and the breakfast is so bare-bones it hardly seems worth calling breakfast.

My son walked into his room around midnight and found dead bugs all over the bathroom, with live ones crawling on the floor. He left right away. We called the next morning, but they refused to refund us because the problem had been reported the day after. The morning employee agreed the room full of dead bugs was disgusting, apologized, and said she understood why we were upset. She told me to call again during the manager’s hours. A woman answered when I called then, but we could barely understand each other. There was loud “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” music in the background, and when I asked her to turn it down, she hung up. I called back, and she kept insisting there were no BED bugs, though I was saying DEAD bugs. She said they sprayed, which may have worked to some extent, but they still need to clean up the dead bugs and spray enough to kill them all. She said the manager would be back in an hour. I left a message for HIM to call ME, but he never did. When I called again, he was rude and disrespectful, didn’t acknowledge the bugs or apologize for the filthy room, and refused to refund our money. I’m grateful my son left without setting down his bags and carrying the filth home. Do not stay here.

The rooms were nice, and the beds and bedding were really comfortable. There’s no elevator, though. I gave it four stars because the tub clearly needed repair, with duct tape on the inside edge, and the hair dryer didn’t work.
