Doubletree by Hilton Hattiesburg, MS

My first stay here went really well. I checked in late, and Marie at the front desk took excellent care of me. She deserves recognition for her great customer service. We need more people like her.

The bar staff were wonderful and made me feel right at home. They were so welcoming. One person in particular, I think her name was Alex, stood out. She handled everything quickly and efficiently and was absolutely great. I’ve got nothing but praise for this place and will definitely be back.

The location is convenient, the cookies are a nice touch, and the rooms are fine. But as a Diamond member, I’ve had repeated problems with customer service, and that outweighs the good. They rarely answer the phone. I once booked two nights and arrived at 3 a.m., only to be told my room had been canceled because policy required me to arrive by 2 a.m. I was nearly stranded, and they still charged me for both nights. Call me dumb, but that seems like free money for them. I’ve stayed here several times and there’s always some issue. When I brought my wife one night, they wouldn’t add her to the room for the room credit. I emailed the general manager and heard nothing back two weeks later. I know my work schedule is unusual, but employees arguing with me instead of answering the phone so I could check in earlier was unacceptable. She only changed her attitude and checked me in after I started recording and explaining the situation on camera and putting the business on blast. Other nearby hotels had no problem letting me check in at 3 a.m. over the last two weeks. I’m not even close to their highest status yet, though I will be soon. I don’t know if this is really policy or lazy workers, but something needs to change before I stay again. Without the location and Hilton name, I don’t think this place would do well. Two stars.

Myron was the only person handling every guest who came through the hotel, yet he still came to my room and fixed the TV. He was patient, kind, and considerate, and went above and beyond while running the place by himself. He deserves a raise and real recognition for his service. Myron, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
