I've stayed at Sleep Inn & Suites in Hattiesburg before, and I'd come back on future trips. The rooms are spacious, the beds are very comfortable, and the whole place is well kept. It's clean, comfortable, and budget friendly. The bathroom was large, and the shower had better water pressure than I expected at a hotel. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and ready to help with whatever we needed.
The bed slept well, and breakfast was okay, but the room needed a lot of work during our three-night stay. There was mold in the bathroom, a badly repaired ceiling, an old, rustic faucet, and a water stain on the room ceiling. The bathroom door needed replacing, and the shower control needed repair because water kept running into the tub. The room door also needed replacing because its top safety latch was broken. I would have liked full-length pillows. With some renovations, this could be a decent place to stay.
The front desk guy was very nice, but the hotel had a strong mold problem and smelled awful. I couldn't stand being in the first room, so they moved us to one that smelled a little better. By morning my eyes were almost swollen shut, and I was congested with a sore throat. I only react that way to mold, so I can't risk staying here again. The clientele also felt sketchy: a woman was smoking pot outside the front door when I arrived, and a homeless woman was trying to negotiate the price at the counter. For over $100, one miserable night that made me sick was not worth it. They need to remediate whatever is causing the hotel-wide mold issue. The people working there were nice, but the hotel isn't good.
The room was comfortable and the property was clean inside and out. I had no real issues, though there were some minor blemishes around the bathroom. I didn't stay for breakfast. A guest next door had the TV on all night, but I'd stay here again.
I was traveling with my elderly mother for my stay on 12/26, and we had some trouble at check-in and then with the TV in the room. I don't remember the front desk agent's name, but she was patient and very helpful. She also told me about a discount on our meal at Cracker Barrel. Thanks so much to her.
