Residence Inn by Marriott Hattiesburg

The property was very clean and had a fresh smell throughout our stay. There were plenty of things to do, including a pool, basketball court, games, and a grill, and we liked being near the sister property. Skylar and Lisa were especially kind and easy to talk with, and the staff made a real effort to help our family find food options. The breakfast selection was limited for vegans, though vegetarian choices were available. We did have a couple of room problems: the lock only caught when we shut the door firmly, and ants came out of the bathtub when the water was running. The staff tried to accommodate us, which we appreciated as a family with both vegan and non-vegan members.

Jennifer was wonderful and helped us out. We travel a lot and tend to expect quite a bit, so I was glad to find the room clean and quiet. The gym was great to use, and having a nice fire while we ate breakfast was lovely. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Jennifer even sent a sympathy card to my room, and it meant so much. We were staying here for my father's funeral, and the staff made a difficult time a little easier. Skylar and everyone else were so kind, checking in regularly to see if we needed anything. It felt good to be welcomed by the whole team. Thank you again for everything you did for my family and me. May God bless you.

The breakfast was a little better than I expected for Residence Inn, especially the grits and scrambled eggs. The AC was excellent, which is vital in South Mississippi even in winter, and the rooms were very comfortable with the usual amenities. I did miss having USB ports. I forgot the plug for my charger cable, my mistake, so I couldn't charge my phone in the room. The hotel and its next-door sister Courtyard Marriott both seem due for upgrades. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and I'll come back when I'm in the area. One odd thing: the front entrance is around the back near the parking lot dead end, and as far as I remember there were no signs pointing to it.
