The staff were kind and helpful, and knew the area well. Shelly went out of her way to help with my reservation, and the rest of the team was great too. The snacks were good and well stocked, though I may have finished all the pineapple juice. We spent several days in Helen and chose Riverbend after doing a little research. The hotel sits right on the river, with a small sandy beach, swings, and a picnic area by the water. Across the river it's wooded, with no bunch of businesses blocking the picturesque view of the N. Ga. mountains. The rooms were a reasonable size, clean, and everything worked as it should. It was my first time staying in Helen, but I'll come back and stay at Riverbend again. Hope we see the staff soon.

The breakfast matched the “on-the-go” description, mostly individually wrapped muffins, bagels, fruit cups, and similar items. You can ask the front desk for breakfast sandwiches or burritos. It suited a lighter breakfast, and the desk was always staffed with fresh coffee available. The WiFi was spotty, and the TV service relies on it, so it lost connection for about a minute several times at night. It never stayed out long, and Verizon cell service was great. The room fridge didn't work, but we only checked it the night before leaving, and just wanted it for a couple of drinks, so I didn't make a fuss. The ice maker in the walkway also didn't seem to work. There was construction happening, so maybe that was a coincidence. The swings by the river were nice for enjoying the view, though most sat very low to the ground. The bed was comfortable and fairly firm, more like a hybrid, and the pillows were very comfortable too. If you prefer a really soft mattress, let the front desk know when booking. Downtown was an easy walk away, and the hotel was right on the river. Overall, a nice stay for the location and price, and I'd stay again.

Ms. Shelly made our few days there especially enjoyable. She welcomed us warmly, was accommodating throughout, and even helped us get an early check-in. She paid close attention to what we needed and made sure my 3-year-old could have milk during the stay. She was always ready to help, and we're very grateful for her hospitality. We'd gladly return.

The riverfront setting is hard to beat, with swings to relax on, and Main Street is just over a block away on foot. The room was clean and updated, with a microwave and fridge. The bed felt a little firm, but it was fine. In the morning they have coffee, muffins, cereal, and even frozen breakfast sandwiches in the lobby. I do wish there were a gluten-free choice. The outside is being renovated, and yes, it looks dated, but it was clean, which matters most to me. Thanks to Aliyah at check-in for the dinner recommendations. Riverbend, we'll be back!

We enjoyed the stay and being right in the heart of Helen, and it's pet friendly. I would stay again. I didn't appreciate being led to expect a river view from the room, as though it were right beside the river, when it wasn't. I booked directly through the hotel, not a third party. Just be honest with customers.
