I walked into the room and immediately smelled something awful. It turned out there were rotting Jamaican jerk chicken wings in the fridge, along with bread and canned meat. They'd been there a while. My son and I were the only ones staying in the room, and we're both vegetarians. I never imagined the smell came from spoiled food in a refrigerator that hadn't been cleaned out. I told the staff as soon as I figured out what it was, the same night I checked in. They said I would have to speak to the front desk in the morning. They didn't offer another room or a discount. The next morning, they went up to supposedly clean it, but the tub was filthy and I had to clean it before I could shower. The housekeeper who came up the second day said the food was obviously old. I have photos and video of what I found. If management had checked the cameras from the night before, they would have seen I didn't carry those bags in. I felt brushed off and treated without respect or courtesy. When I raised it with management, I was told she knew exactly what kind of person I was and that I had created the issue myself. Then they charged me a $75 cleaning fee, on top of the $100 charge for my 4lb dog. They claim to be pet friendly, but there were no rules about animals. The only thing they had to do because of me was wash the bedding, which should be done anyway. I don't think a $75 fee is justified, especially with proof the room hadn't been cleaned before I checked in, contrary to their own policy.

We arrived late at night, worn out after a business event, and were given a key after checking in. When we opened the room and turned on the lights, someone was already in bed asleep. It must have been awful for them, and it wasn't much better for us. Staff said that was the only room they thought was available, so we had to drive around town looking for somewhere else to stay. I won't take a chance on one of these hotels again.

There were nine of us traveling through the area, with three double queen rooms booked for one night. We left and asked for a refund, which we got, but that still left us scrambling to find somewhere to stay. One room had black hairs on the sheets. Both bedspreads in the second room had burn marks. The third room smelled like rotten fish and had stains on the first bedspread. We didn't look any further in that room because of the smell.

The overnight gray-haired guy was rude when I asked about breakfast. He said muffins were out, and when I asked about eggs and mentioned I'd worked a breakfast bar for 14 years, he said, “So if you know what a continental breakfast was, why you ask me for?” Then he told me to enjoy breakfast while waving me away and laughing. He wasn't nice about it. All the soda machines were empty, and the fridge in my room was off and flooded with water, so I couldn't use it. I'm never staying here again, and I'll be calling the health department about the violations in the building.
