Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey Near The Park

The drive to Hersheypark was only about seven minutes, and this will be our go to whenever we’re back in the area. My mother and I stayed three nights, and the staff, from the front desk and kitchen to housekeeping, made the visit special. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and caring, and they handled whatever we needed with real kindness. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and quickly felt like home. The free hot breakfast was wonderful too. Staff even accommodated a dietary concern for both of us, which meant a lot. The hotel was immaculate, and the customer service was outstanding from start to finish. I highly recommend it.

The only reason I’m giving two stars is the really nice girl working after we checked in. She talked with us and felt bad. I wish I remembered her name. She was awesome and deserves a raise for dealing with management. Zach said he’d refund us and follow up, but he never did. I emailed three times and got nothing. I waited a month to give them a chance to fix it, and I work in customer service, so I’d tried to be chill. I’ve never posted a bad review before. Check-in was a nightmare. Ebar, I think that was his name, seemed clueless. The first room key didn’t work. I went back and he told me to try again and showed me how, like I was using it wrong. It still didn’t work. He gave me another key, same problem. He came up to check, and it still wouldn’t open the door. He used the master key and offered to give it to us. I said no, that was a safety and security issue. He told my boyfriend to come down for another key, which also didn’t work. We called Ebar, and he sent maintenance. They said the lock battery was dead, which didn’t make sense since the master key worked. By then it had been 45 minutes to an hour. We used the bathroom quickly, and it wasn’t clean. He then told us to move rooms. The bathroom in the new room wasn’t clean either, and the toilet still had pee on it. I cleaned it myself. We’d already driven four hours with a 3yr and three teenagers, and I was done and tired. When I went to lie down, I felt something hard on the flat sheet. It was a dog’s nail. Gross. I stripped off the sheets and blankets and threw them on the floor around 11ish at night. Thank goodness I bring my own blankets. The barn style sliding doors were off track. We called so we wouldn’t be charged, and he asked if we could bring them to the hallway. We don’t work there, so no. My teens lifted them back onto the track, but they wouldn’t stay. The freezer was so iced up we couldn’t put anything in it, even though we actually use the freezer. There were also someone’s snacks in the cabinet that hadn’t been cleaned out. We didn’t leave because it was NYE weekend, we’d booked a month earlier on booking for a great price, and everything else was 800 plus by then. That wasn’t really in our budget. Zach acts like he cares, but didn’t follow through.

Finding a blood stain on the bedsheet was the worst part. We told guest services, and instead of offering another room or properly dealing with it, they handed us a clean sheet and expected us to change it ourselves. That was shocking, especially with the hygiene issue. The room was visibly dirty, with heavy dust in the bathroom corners, a crumbling ceiling, and a rusted tub. The whole property feels run down and poorly maintained. This wasn’t the cleanliness or service I expect from Hampton Inn & Suites Hershey. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until they make major improvements to cleanliness, maintenance, and staff response.

The location was really convenient for the Hershey Park attractions, and the room was nice. The hotel was good and staff were friendly. What bothered me was nearby guests leaving trash bags outside our door and dirty linen in the hall each morning. It’s gross, and I don’t know why people do that. If they needed room cleaning or trash taken out, they could just ask the staff, who I’m sure would help. I reported it at the desk, and they took care of it.
