La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Hesperia Victorville

We chose this hotel because it’s close to family, and the location worked out great. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and the hotel and rooms were well kept. They’re nice, though not luxurious, and don’t have that rundown motel feeling. A couple of things could be better: clean the shower heads so the water flows more smoothly, and replace satellite TV service, since heavy rain or strong winds, both normal here, make it lose signal. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay.

The rooms are comfortable, the location is great, and the price is good. The only real letdown was breakfast. The dishes were dirty when we went down, and the staff didn’t clean them very well while we were there. That’s why I held back a star. I’d definitely stay again, and with cleaner breakfast dishes it would be a five star stay.

I expected a much better stay based on the reviews, but this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I booked two and a half nights and left early the next morning after just one because the place felt dirty and uncomfortable. At 6 a.m., doors were slamming nonstop in the hallway, and a dog barked all night. In room 306, there were visible stains on the bedding, food crumbs and sunflower seeds under the bed frame, marks and drips on the wall by the door, and white stains on the chair. The bathroom was in unacceptable shape, with a damaged, poorly maintained door. It didn’t look properly cleaned at all. The check-in was a mess too. I was given keys to a third-floor room that wouldn’t open. I went downstairs for new keys, but they still didn’t work. A staff member came up with a master key and couldn’t get in either. Then another guest walked out of the room I’d been assigned, so it was clearly already occupied. I went back downstairs to explain, and the staff member seemed unaware of it and said he didn’t know how it had happened. I just wanted to sleep. He moved me to room 306. I’d paid a decent price for two nights, and this was disappointing and unsanitary. I could have booked a motel 6 if I wanted this kind of experience. I wouldn’t recommend the property.

The room was clean and the stay was pleasant, but there was a cat urine smell. I was charged an extra $50 for my two dogs, $25 each, and would have thought that fee might go toward shampooing the carpet.
