Best Western Plus Hiawatha Hotel

The room price felt like far too much for what it was, though I suppose they can charge that with little competition in town. I was stranded in Hiawatha, KS after my car broke down and stayed three nights until a friend could drive three hours to get me. On my last morning, staff said I could check out at noon, an hour late, without a fee. Then at 10:30, a woman sent her daughter to my door to say the manager had changed that and wanted to charge me. I rushed through a shower and checked out at 10:59 since I was packed already. I just wish they’d kept their word. If they’d told me about the fee upfront, I could have waited in the lobby for my ride. Housekeeping hadn’t reached my room by noon, even though it was only a few doors from the lobby, which made the whole thing seem especially pointless.

The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room, but it felt dark inside and the bathroom was small. The old-fashioned look of the rooms is why I’m giving it three stars.

It was a very pet-friendly stay, and there’s a McDonald's, car parts store, and Casey's right beside the hotel. The staff were warm and really helpful, the room was comfortable, and I enjoyed breakfast. I had a really nice time here and would recommend it.

Breakfast was great, and the staff were so friendly. The place felt welcoming and was very clean. I’d stay here again.
