Outpost Inn

The fire pits around the property were a treat, and the coffee shop and wine bar are must-visits. There’s a free coffee and banana bread each day, too. My wife and I came for a long anniversary weekend, and the whole staff was welcoming from the moment we arrived. Our room had a nice cozy charm. Alex deserves a special shoutout for being accommodating, personable, and making the place feel like home. We loved the trip and plan to stay here next time we visit.

They made plenty of room for our 10-month-old, even taking chairs out so we could fit the pack and play. We were welcomed with a s’mores kit and anniversary drinks. Alex was great company, with helpful wine recommendations, and you can tell she loves her job. Outpost Inn is a little off the main drag, which we liked. Parking was always available, and everything was about a three-minute drive away. We loved the decor, the bigger rooms with fireplaces, and the wine and coffee bar with its cool MCM fireplace. We’d stayed at their sister hotel, HMH, a few years ago and loved it, so we were excited to try Outpost Inn. It definitely had the same vibe. Can’t wait to visit again!

Alex was working for most of our two-night, last-minute getaway, and she was so helpful, kind, and hospitable. The check-in space and wine and coffee bar, with its cozy seating, made us feel welcome and relaxed. We had a petite room with a very comfortable bed, a nice little sitting area, and amenities that made the stay special. The Inn was a great choice for us: rates were much better than the places I checked in the center of town, and there are nice sidewalks for the short walk to Main Street. I didn’t know much about Highlands when I picked The Outpost Inn, but it turned out to be perfect. We’ll definitely go back.

You’re only a few steps from a fire pit, and there’s plenty of split wood ready to use. The lobby coffee and furnace make a comfortable spot to settle in. Our modest-sized room was laid out well and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the showers were large with great pressure, and the overhead fan was a nice extra. Definitely coming back.
