Nichole is a wonderful host, and as someone who travels a lot, I especially appreciate that she’s open to suggestions. It helps make the visitor experience better. The rooms are clean and simple, just right for a trip to the Black Hills, and parking right outside means no stairs to climb. It’s a really good value, and I’ll put it at the top of my list for future visits. The location is central to the Black Hills. The town is small, with 872 people, but has all the necessary amenities. There are hiking trails in the Black Hills at different difficulty levels, so pick up a list at the Visitor Center at the entrance to Hill City. It’s also close to my favorite place, Sylvan Lake, and to Custer State Park.

The cabin we walked into had overflowing trash, dirty floors, and unmade beds. When I brought it up with Nicole, she said it had been an oversight. She had to enter the cabin to leave our keys on the table, so I don’t see how she could have missed the mess unless she had blinders on. In the end she told us we’d be happier somewhere else, and we left. This was our usual place for years, and I will NEVER return. A real failure in customer service. Spring Creek Inn used to always be clean when we stayed in the Black Hills. Not this time.

This was one of the three best places we’ve stayed on our cross-country trip. It’s a welcome change from anonymous highway motels, with a charming setting, comfortable rooms, and an owner-operator who responds when you need something. Dogs are welcome, too.

We all had a great time here as a family. The owner was helpful and very nice, and the rooms were spacious, if a little dated. It’s close enough to town to be convenient but far enough away to feel quiet and peaceful.

We had easy access to the UTV trails right across the road, which added some fun to our trip. Spring Creek Inn is also perfectly placed for exploring the Black Hills and the area’s main tourist destinations. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the friendly staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. We’ll see you again!
