We arrived at the last minute and were given the large family cabin even though it was just the two of us. We appreciated that, and the taproom on the back patio was excellent. The cabin and hosts didn’t seem ready for us, though: the blinds were thick with dust. Everything else was clean, just not updated.

Maggie, the bartender and the cabin owner’s aunt, was the highlight of our stay. She was just the sweetest. The little one-room cabin was perfect, with shops and restaurants downtown within walking distance and the Mickelson Trail at mile marker 60 just down the road. Behind the cabins there’s a taproom and wine area, plus a patio with gas grills and a fire pit. We’ll definitely come back. Thank you!

Cabin #5 had everything we could possibly need, and Shaun was a very accommodating host. We spent four comfortable days in Hill City. The patio behind the cabins was a great spot, with plenty of tables and chairs and a fire pit area. Main Street, with its restaurants and shops, was an easy walk away. It was peaceful, and we saw deer several times on the hillside, in yards, and even walking down the street. Thank you, Shaun. We love your cabins. Joey and Debbie Murphy Winter Haven, Florida

We’re checking out this morning after our second night, and we’ll be back. The cabin is clean, roomy, and comfortable, with A/C that was a welcome surprise during this hot week. We’re here with two adults, a four-year-old, and a two-year-old. It’s a five-minute walk to Hill City’s main drag, with tourist conveniences close by and the Black Hills feel right there. I’ve seen deer and turkeys just feet from the door. Doug and Mary are solid owners, and last night’s community bonfire was a great time sitting around trading stories. If you’re thinking about a chain hotel, give this place a try. Thanks, Doug and Mary.

Hill City worked well as a base for the places we wanted to visit in the Black Hills, and town was an easy walk from this quiet side street. We spent a week here after bringing our side-by-side out. Doug & Mary were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Mary had a list of places to see, and Doug helped us find good routes for our machine and showed us the offroad map app. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and having our own bathroom and a small kitchen area was great, even though we ate out the whole time. I was grateful for the A/C when it hit 100 several days. Loved the view from the front porch, and I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting the Hills.
