2417 @ Oceanfront Resort Lihue, Kauai Beach Drive

We had an oceanfront room and loved having our morning coffee with the sound of the ocean. The grounds are well kept, the staff are wonderful, and the room was clean and stocked. The furnishings and room itself are very outdated, though, which is why I gave it three stars. The ocean location is great.

The private resort beach was a real plus, and the restaurant food was pretty good despite the high prices. Room 2417 was clean, but needed some repairs and updating. It looked out over a roof, with a few green areas visible, so the view wasn't much. Since the unit was privately owned, cleaning was handled by an outside service that guests had to contact. I also missed having a microwave for reheating leftovers from the main town.

I loved taking the path down to the ocean each evening, and our room had beautiful views of both the ocean and pool. Jocelyn at the pool was such a wonderful part of the stay, greeting everyone with a big Aloha smile every day. You could tell she loved her job, and she's a real asset to the Resort. Restaurant service was slow, possibly because they were short staffed, which wasn't the employees' fault. We had a wonderful time and will stay here again when we return to Kauai.

We were mostly here to sleep after renting a car, and the sunsets and entertainment were amazing. It's a nice place, though I wouldn't call it a resort. The beach isn't recommended for swimming, and other beaches nearby require your own transportation. There are no resort shuttles, even to the airport just five minutes away. It takes a little getting used to.
