Hilo Beach House Inn

The balconies were a highlight. They're screened against bugs, so you can leave the doors open and enjoy a great ocean breeze. The layout keeps each balcony feeling private, even when other guests are outside on theirs. The rooms have double walls between them, which provide excellent soundproofing, and the bed was super comfortable. We also loved the stone and tile work in the shower. This small hotel is a great spot on the Big Island for a quiet escape. The materials are high quality, with none of the cheap builder grade finish you see elsewhere. Highly recommend.

Chris was a wonderful host, full of good cheer and helpful information. The location was great, with waterfalls, the Tropical Botanical Garden, and Volcano National Park all easy to reach. There's a sandy beach right out back and good snorkeling nearby, and all the local restaurants we tried were wonderful. A friend suggested Hilo Beach House, and we were glad we took the recommendation.

On our second stay at this lovely, quiet Inn, Renee was very helpful when we arrived. We had the spacious Orchid room, with a lovely lanai, table and chairs for breakfast outside, and a chaise. The bed was excellent, and the shower extraordinary. It's across from a lovely family beach park, and a quick ride gets you to the airport, downtown, gorgeous Rainbow Falls, and the wonderful Farmers Market. We also enjoyed the exquisite park across from Hilo Bay Cafe, and had lunch there. We hope to return next year!

The stairs aren't convenient if you have a lot of luggage, so plan what you bring accordingly. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's one of the best places we've stayed in Hawaii, with first class craftsmanship. Snorkel gear was provided, and the owners responded right away with great suggestions for adventures and dining.
