Budget Motel of USA

I booked a room online for a homeless friend and entered my card details. When my friend arrived with the confirmation number, they tried to charge me another hundred and something dollars in cash. I called to cancel, but the agent said I still had to pay for the room. I had called well before that to tell the CSR I was canceling because they’d tried to charge my card twice and then demanded cash in person. They wouldn’t accept a card from my son and wanted cash. Most motels have a cancellation window, and I had just made it, so I wanted to cancel for that reason.

I rented a room on Dec. 24 and was charged a deposit that I never got back. My bank said it hadn’t received a release from Budget’s bank, so they’re keeping my deposit.

The carpet was dirty and smelled of mildew, the bathtub was disgusting, and there were pee spots on the bathroom floor. Yellow stains seemed to run down the walls, and the counters had sticky stuff on them. The refrigerator was just as bad, and there were dead roaches on the window sill. My family and I booked this motel on October 6, 2016, because of Hurricane Matthew. I honestly felt they’d kicked someone out to make double the money from people evacuating. They could at least have cleaned the room. I have a video I plan to upload. They should be ashamed.

We only stayed the week because someone else paid for it. We were homeless, and we had a dog. The place claims to be dog friendly, but the next day the owner said, “I no like your dog.” We had to clean our own room every day, and they complained about washing things because of dog hair, as if everything shouldn’t be washed anyway. They don’t want pets on the bed, either. When tenants went to the store or work, we watched staff go through other people’s rooms. The owners are nosey, horrible, and lazy. There are huge roaches, and drug addicts fight and argue outside your door. If you call the front office, nobody’s there. The free Wi-Fi was turned off during the day and was rarely on at night, and there was hardly any cable. The room smelled, the bed smelled, and the whole place looked like it was about to fall apart. The door lock was broken, the carpet was stained and stank, and bugs in the bed bit my husband. A pipe at the vanity burst the first night, and we had to fix it ourselves. The toilet comes with you when you get up, and the tub looked like it hadn’t been washed in months. We’d rather live in our vehicle than come back.
